Endorphins and serotonin are two main hormones released by the brain, and both hormones regulate your mood and how you feel through a day. Both hormones are being released through a workout, but here we will focus on endorphins. Researchers don’t have a clear explanation why our brain tends to release endorphins during an intense workout. One explanation is that our body perceives an exercise as one form of pain and stress, which causes endorphins release as a type of protection. You can experience the release of endorphins after 20 or 30 minutes of a workout. But remember – the more endorphins you produce, the better you will feel. Furthermore, if you are new to exercising, you may experience it even earlier. From the other side, studies have proved that if you overexercise and become exhausted, the level of endorphins will drop down automatically. That’s why it’s crucial to know your limits and to stop when you feel pain and unbearable level of exhaustion. Obviously, endorphins are a group of hormones. Beta-endorphin is a type of endorphin released from the pituitary gland during a workout, and his primary task is reducing pain your body. Generally speaking, endorphins have another responsibilities after a workout: lowering your blood pressure, heart rate, while stabilising breathing and body temperature.

Any form of exercise can help you reach that feel-good state of mind, whether it’s an hour of a HIIT workout or a Fitness Pilates Class Additionally, you probably heard about “runner’s high” or hopefully you’ve experienced that incredible feeling of euphoria and enthusiasm while running. Your body is reacting in that way because  good exercise stimulates endorphins production in your body.

Do you want to sit in front of the TV all day or exercise? You don’t have to be an athlete or in a perfect shape to gain benefits these specific benefits of a good workout. If you haven’t exercised for some time, the best thing to do is start gradually.  Start training with a slow walk before you start to run, start with 20 minutes of a low impact workout, then 30 minutes, before trying to workout for a full hour. It’s important to remember to choose the activity that you love where achieving your goals won’t seem like a lot of work.

Boost Your Mood with a Workout

There is good news for those who struggle with depression or for those who simply feel overstressed all the time. As we established, endorphins have a particular link to exercise, and they are the reason exercising is recommended to those who are struggling with anxiety disorders or depression. Scientific research has proven that those who regularly exercise are less likely to feel depressed or anxious. Patients who are dealing with depression or anxiety disorder should be encouraged to exercise more, and get involved with any  physical activity that matches their interests and personality. Furthermore, physical activity can be perceived as a chance to socialise and meet new people, and that can be helpful as well.

Also, there is another connection between feeling good and exercising. We know that with a proper exercise, we’re relaxing and stretching every muscle in your body. Therefore, you feel less stressed and ready to rock. Suddenly, you don’t feel that uncomfortable stiffness in your neck, back pain, and your headache is magically gone.
